Overview

The Prime Minister announced in September that the Government would create a new register of Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) to enable local authorities to access the skills and experience that they need in the fight against COVID-19.

We are now delighted to announce that the Environmental Health Together register is due to launch shortly. It is aimed at anyone holding an environmental health qualification (accredited degree and/or EHRB) who is available for work, either part-time or full-time, in-person or remotely, and in a remunerated or voluntary capacity. This webinar will provide more information on the register, including who it is aimed at, how it will work, what information you will be required to submit and more.

The register will be hosted by the Local Government Association (LGA) and is backed by The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and NHS Test and Trace. Its creation recognises the important and holistic role that EHPs are currently playing in tackling the pandemic and builds on the volunteer register which we launched as part of our first response to the crisis.

It is anticipated that the register will provide a central place for local authorities to recruit the professionals most needed to carry out pandemic work. While only local authorities in England will be able to recruit from it, it is anticipated that many roles will be based remotely so registrations are invited from across the UK.
